Why cleanup matters
Rats and mice leave droppings and urine wherever they travel and nest, and much of it ends up in the attic insulation. The smell can linger, and the scent trails can draw new rodents to the same spot.
Rodents also carry fleas. Los Angeles County recorded 220 cases of flea-borne typhus in 2025, a record, spread by fleas on rats, opossums and stray cats. Cleanup is a job for people with the right protective gear.
When you need a cleanup
- Droppings or nesting found during the inspection
- Flattened, tunneled or stained insulation
- A smell that lingers after the rodents are gone
- Chewed ducting or wiring
- Insulation that hasn’t been checked since a past infestation
What the cleanup includes
- Removal of droppings, nests and debris
- Removal of soiled insulation where needed
- Sanitizing and deodorizing the area
- Repair of chewed ducts where possible
- Photos before and after
